Sweet potato chaat with a tangy tamarind chutney


Sweet potato chaat is a delightful and nutritious variation of the traditional Indian chaat, a popular street food known for its amazing blend of flavours and textures. making it a wholesome and guilt-free snack. Topped with creamy yogurt ,a sweet and sour tamarind chutney and aromatic spices like cumin and red chilli powder, the sweet potatoes are seasoned to perfection.Not only is a Sweet Potato Chaat flavourful , but it also boasts of numerous health benefits and are loaded with vitamins, fiber, and complex carbohydrates, making them an ideal choice for those seeking a nutritious alternative to traditional chaat.






Some of the ingredients used in this recipe are





Ingredients


Sweet potatoes-250 gm (parboiled)

Brocolli- 4-5 florets(blanched)

Sprouts- a handful

Pomegranate -2-3 tbsp

Salt- as per taste

Cumin powder- 1.5 tsp

Red chilli powder- as per taste

Raw brown sugar-2.5 tbsp

Sweet tamarind paste -2 tbsp

Coriander leaves-for garnish

Yoghurt-100gm

Oil- 1.5 tbsp

Arrowroot flour/Cornflour- 1 tbsp


Directions


1.In a bowl, add yogurt followed by raw brown sugar /jaggery powder and mix it well .


2.Parboil the sweet potatoes until they are 80./. cooked. Once they have cooled down, sliced them into round shapes and keep them aside.


3.In a pan, add oil ,coat the sweet potatoes with arrowroot flour and fry them until they are crispy and well cooked.


4.Place these crispy potatoes in a serving plate, add blanched broccoli ,sprouts, pomegranate. Add a generous amount of the sweetened yogurt followed by a sprinkle of salt, cumin powder and red chili powder .


5.Add the sweetened tamarind paste and garnish with some coriander leaves.
