Pesto pasta with fresh basil.

Pesto pasta is a classic and flavorful dish that showcases the vibrant flavors of fresh basil, garlic, Parmesan cheese, pine nuts/walnuts, and olive oil. It features al dente pasta coated in a luscious green sauce made from blending these ingredients together. The aromatic basil and garlic infuse the pasta with a delightful herbaceous taste, while the Parmesan adds a creamy and nutty richness. Topped with a sprinkle of grated Parmesan and perhaps some cherry tomatoes or grilled chicken for added color and texture, pesto pasta is a simple yet satisfying meal that is loved by many for its vibrant flavors and versatility.

Ingredients for the pesto sauce


Basil -100 gm

Walnuts-8 or 1/2 cup pine nuts

Parmesan cheese -1 tbsp

Garlic -1 tsp

Extra virgin olive oil- 1/2 cup

Salt & pepper -to taste


Ingredients for the pasta


Pasta of your choice

Cherry tomatoes -4-5

Basil leaves- 8-10

Parmesan cheese - to taste

Pesto sauce -3-4 tbsp or as per taste

Salt & pepper - to taste



Optional toppings

Cherry tomatoes, halved

Grilled chicken, sliced

Extra grated Parmesan cheese



Directions

1.Cook the pasta according to the package instructions until al dente. Drain and set aside.


2.In a food processor or blender, combine the fresh basil, grated Parmesan cheese, pine nuts/walnuts, and minced garlic. Pulse until the ingredients are finely chopped.


3.With the food processor running, slowly drizzle in the extra virgin olive oil until a smooth and creamy pesto sauce forms. If needed, scrape down the sides of the food processor and continue blending.


4.Season the pesto sauce with salt and pepper to taste. Adjust the flavors as desired.


5.In a large mixing bowl, combine the cooked pasta and the pesto sauce. Toss until the pasta is evenly coated with the sauce.


6.Add cherry tomatoes or grilled chicken to the pasta and toss gently to incorporate them.


7.Serve the pesto pasta warm. You can garnish it with extra grated Parmesan cheese and a few fresh basil leaves.
