Japanese food is by far one of the most loved cuisines by my entire family.I highly recommend giving this Tsukune recipe a try.Drizzled with light soya sauce along with a sweetish Teriyaki sauce and Togarashi (Japanese chili powder) gives this dish a perfect flavour.These skewers taste the best if grilled,however you can pan fry them as well.
Some of the ingredients used in this recipe are
Ingredients
Chicken mince- ½ kg
Japanese Mirin- 4 tbsp
Light soya sauce-4 tbsp+3 tbsp extra
Black sesame seeds-2 tsp
Egg-1
Onion finely chopped-1
Carrot finely chopped-1small
Button mushroom finely chopped-3
Lemon zest-1 tsp
Butter-1 tbsp
Teriyaki sauce-4 tbsp
Japanese red chilli powder (Togarashi powder)/red chilli flakes as per taste & black sesame seeds-for garnishing
Directions
1.Mix all the above ingredients together & marinade for 30 min
2.Make round bite size balls of the above mixture and steam it for 12 min.
3.Once steamed,insert barbeque sticks inside the meatballs (2 meatballs per stick)
4.In a grill pan add olive oil,one tablespoon butter and fry the meat balls very gently
4.Add 3 tbsp soya sauce and 4 tbsp teriyaki sauce on it.(Add a bit more if required)
5.Garnish with Japanese chilli powder & black sesame seeds.Serve hot.
Healthy Tips/Cooking tips
1.Use coconut aminos as a substitute for soya sauce as it is natural version for soya sauce.
2. If using mushrooms, peel off the top skin/layer of the mushroom and gently clean all the dirt from it by using a damp cloth/napkin and make sure it is cleaned properly.Avoid washing the mushrooms as it would absorb a lot of water like a sponge and that would change the flavour and texture of the dish.
