Goa is one of my favourite holiday destinations and people who know me well, know my love for Goan food.Bellow is the the recipe of an authentic Goan fish curry which you will absolutely love.Serve it along with some Goan rice/white steamed rice and indulge.
Some of the ingredients used in this recipe are
Ingredients
Fish fillets- 3-4
Lemon juice-1/2 lemon
Salt-to taste
Grated coconut-1 cup
Poppy seeds-1 tsp
Coriander seeds- 1 tbsp
Black peppercorns-1 tsp
Cumin seeds-1 tsp
Garlic-1 tbsp
Curry leaves-4-5
Kashmiri red chillies-6-8 (deseeded)
Garlic-1 tbsp
Turmeric-1 tsp
Onion-1
Green chilly-1
Tamarind juice-1 tbsp
Vinegar-1 tsp
Red chili powder-1 tsp
Coconut milk-1 cup
Directions
1.Marinade fish in salt and lemon juice and keep aside for 15 minutes.
2.In a mixer,add the coconut,coriander seeds,turmeric,cumin seeds,garlic,Kashmiri red chillies along with little water and grind it into a smooth paste.
3.In a frying pan,add little olive oil,fry the onions until slightly brown.Add green chillies,curry leaves,the above grounded masala and cook for 10 minutes.Add coconut milk,salt,tamarind juice ,vinegar and the fish and let it simmer gently until the fish is cooked.
4.Serve hot with steamed rice.
Health/cooking tips
1.You can serve this curry with Goan rice for a more authentic taste.
2.You could use Goan aldona chillies along with kashmiri for a more authentic flavour.
